PROJECT DESCRIPITON
The Solar Powered Irrigation and Water Supply System Project intends to develop 687 water supply systems for both domestic use and irrigation countrywide, utilizing financing from the United Kingdom Export Finance. The project will be implemented through the Ministry of Water and Environment (MoWE) over a three-year period. A typical system shall entail the following: A water source, transmission pipeline, pumping of water to storage tanks utilising solar energy and water distribution networks. For the irrigation systems, construction of an on-farm irrigation system network is envisaged. The project envisages benefitting majorly the youth and women as they are the groups usually tasked with fetching water
