The focus of the study was to assess the contribution that watershed management makes to the protection of water sources, using Yanze River as a case study for its importance in supplying water in Kigali City. The study identified the benefits created through effective watershed management activities and attempts to quantify the value of those benefits via the cost incurred in water purification and other socio-economic impacts.
